Policy Hour:
Unpacking HB109
The Anti-Protest Bill
On Thursday, April 28th OFUPAC and UUJO will be hosting a joint policy hour to take a deep dive into House Bill 109!
We will talk about:
- What the current law says.
- What HB109 does and how it affects the current law.
- What this would mean for people AND organizations engaged in their communities.
- Next steps for us to fight back.
RSVP here and we will send out details before the event.
OFUPAC's take on the bill:
HB109 seeks to criminalize the First Amendment rights of ALL Ohioans, further militarize and empower police, and silence the organizations and movements who work to preserve those rights.
This is unacceptable and we must stand up in opposition — the legislature is trying to take away our voices so much else has already been taken from communities who it affects. We know that the right to protest is fundamental and one of the few tools we have to build our power, uplift our pain, and push forward for a safer Ohio for us all.
