Ohio’s Statewide Police Reform Policy Table:
The only policy table led by impacted families, for impacted families
Founded by Ohio Families Unite Against Police Brutality and OFUPAC, we bring together community members who are directly impacted by unjust policing practices with policy experts, community service networks, allied organizations, and the broader progressive ecosystem to build a space where those most impacted drive the solutions for safer communities.
This Policy Table is made up of 15 organizations: OFUPAC, OFUAPB, ACLU of Ohio, Dayton Anti-Racist Network, Heal Ohio, Ignite Peace, Ohio Women’s Alliance Action Fund, Law Office of Spencer J. Cahoon, Ohio Fair Courts Alliance, Ohioans to Stop Executions, Central Ohio Freedom Fund, REACH, River Valley Organizing, Gem City Action, and Ohio Justice and Policy Center.
The Ohio Jail Coalition:
The Ohio Jail Coalition is a group of Ohioans from across the state dedicated to ending the harm of Ohio’s carceral system.
We are justice-involved Ohioans, local jail coalitions, community bail funds, legal experts, ally organizations, activists, and supporters, working together for a safer Ohio for all of us.
We’re a watchdog for pretrial detention centers across Ohio, fighting for the humanity of all incarcerated while divesting from the carceral system.
This coalition is made up of 12 organizations: OFUPAC, OFUAPB, The Wren Collective, Worth Rises, Ignite Peace, National Lawyers Guild, Cuyahoga County Jail Coalition, Montgomery County Jail Coalition, Law Office of Spencer J. Cahoon, Central Ohio Freedom Fund, Dayton Anti-Racist Network, and Dayton United for Human Rights.
Columbus Safety Collective Campaign:
The Columbus Safety Collective Campaign is a community-driven movement focused on establishing a non-police emergency response system that serves all Columbus residents. Our mission is to foster an anti-racist, health-centered approach to public safety and to promote accountability and justice in our city. CSCC believes that people experiencing crisis deserve service from an anti-racist, health-centered emergency response program that is accountable to those impacted and promotes investment in long term community supports. Anyone willing to serve their community should have an opening to this work. The program should include a paid training period, and prioritize those with lived experience and neighborhood ties. This program should be paid for with city funds and support a workforce that has robust pay, benefits, and values alignment with program goals. A paid board of community members develops best practices and provides performance review and accountability processes after complaints. Program implementation should coincide with a request for proposals for research on program efficacy. Ideally, a study team will conduct a randomized control trial to assess impacts of the pilot phase.
OFUPAC is proud to be a founding member of the CSC campaign!
