I want to send condolences to the family of Reginald Thomas. Ohio Families Unite Against Police Brutality and Ohio Families Unite for Political Action and Change are heartbroken and enraged about losing another person at the hands of so-called peace officers, and as always, we keep hearing the same old narrative.
We now have another person who was loved and cherished by his family killed by police without impunity. Families more than likely get no accountability, and we are supposed to just accept the outcome and go on with our lives.
But our loved ones are our lives, they are who we see every day, we hear their voices every day, we eat together as a family, and yet the city manager, police, and our city and county commissioners think we’re supposed to get over it and function as normal each day after our loved ones are killed by the very people who are paid to protect us.
Our reality is this: most families are destroyed, not knowing how to deal with the devastation of losing a son, daughter, sibling, or parent.
How long do our city leaders think we’re going to just stand down and allow this to be normal? A storm is brewing. People are outraged. People want accountability, but the so-called justice system will not give it to us, so what does the system think is going to happen eventually? People will seek their own accountability, and that should scare everybody, because there will be so much bloodshed in our communities, along with the lives of police officers.
We don’t want a war with the police. We just want to be able to raise our families in a safe community without the harassment of so-called law enforcement bullying and degrading our community. Ohio Families Unite Against Police Brutality are wrapping our arms around Reginald Thomas’s family. We will be here for the duration, long after everyone else has moved on.
Please support Reginald Thomas’s family during this tragic loss.
